New details are emerging about the ship named Honour 25 that was hijacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia, of which we published a brief description yesterday.
Puntland authorities confirmed to HOL that the ship was carrying approximately 18,500 barrels of oil destined for Mogadishu, where fuel prices have increased in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the ship is currently being held off the coast of Somalia, specifically between the fishing towns of Xafun and Bandar Beyla, where it is still in the hands of pirates.
Also, information we are receiving from the ship indicates that the number of men who attacked it has increased, with the original six men joined by five more, making a total of 11 armed men who have now taken over the ship.
Officials are still trying to determine exactly how these groups managed to seize the ship, with the suspicion that they originated from an area near Bander Beyla.
