Prime Minister Hamze Abdi Barre visited the capital of the Northeastern Regional State of Las Anod.

The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, and a large delegation including government ministers arrived in Las Anod today, where they were warmly welcomed.

The Prime Minister was received at Las Anod Airport by local officials, elders, community groups and the President of the North-East Region, Abdulkadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye), as hundreds of people gathered in the streets of the city to welcome the delegation.

In a brief speech after the welcome, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre thanked the people and the regional administration for their warm welcome, saying that his trip is one to strengthen cooperation and share the joy of the people.

“I tell you that I love you, and I have come to celebrate with you,” said Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

The Prime Minister said that during his stay in Lascaanod, he will hold various meetings with local leaders and community groups, which will focus on issues of development, security and strengthening cooperation between the federal government and the local administration.

He also praised the administration’s anniversary, noting that the planned meetings will discuss the progress made and plans to accelerate social services and administration.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre indicated that the administration of Northeastern Somalia has shown progress in institution building, coordination of public services and community participation, saying that these efforts will contribute to sustainable development and strengthening relations between the federal government and the administration.
