The leader of the Towfiiq Party, Sheikh Mohamed Shakir Ali Hassan, said that his party will not accept and will not recognize any changes to the results of the one-person, one-vote elections held in Galmudug.
In a press conference, Sheikh Shakir said that political organizations had prepared for a free and fair election, but they had encountered events that he described as damaging to the electoral process.
“We will not accept or recognize any changes, omissions or additions to the results. We will only recognize the correct results that are in accordance with the law,” said Sheikh Shakir.
He said that the Towfiiq Party and other organizations had representatives at all polling stations, who he said were trained by the electoral commission and tasked with registering votes at each station.
According to him, the representatives are holding the results of each polling station, noting that his party is only waiting for the electoral commission to officially announce the agreed results.
Sheikh Shakir also condemned security incidents that he said had plagued the election, saying that some representatives of the organizations were arrested, while others were threatened or prevented from carrying out their duties.
He expressed his condolences to all representatives of political organizations who, according to him, encountered problems at the polling stations, calling for anyone involved in these abuses to be held accountable.
The leader of the Tawfiq Party finally called on the Galmudug Electoral Commission to present the official results in an honest and transparent manner, without adding or subtracting anything, in order to maintain confidence in the electoral process.
