Somalia’s Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali (Ali Hoosh), has challenged a letter issued by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni—and shared with the United Nations—in which Puntland lodged complaints against the Federal Government.
Ali Hoosh stated that the letter issued by Deni does not represent or reflect the stance of the people and prominent figures of Puntland, describing it instead as an attempt to mislead the public.
He noted that Puntland was founded on the principles of Somali identity, national unity, and the preservation of Somalia’s integrity, emphasizing that the people of Puntland play a significant role in building and defending the nation’s sovereignty.
Ali Hoosh accused President Deni of trading those principles for short-term political interests, stating that the letter promotes views aimed at undermining Somalia’s unity.
Furthermore, the minister criticized politicians who claim to be in the opposition but are actually part of what he termed a “project” entrusted to Deni—one intended to serve foreign interests. President Deni shared a statement with the United Nations indicating that the people of Puntland do not wish to remain part of Mogadishu should the Somali state fail.
