The President of Jubaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madoobe), who spoke today in Kismayo, first expressed his condolences to those who died in the violent incidents that took place in the Adhicadeeye and Jalalaqsi areas, describing them as sad and unnecessary events.
The President said that such incidents are part of the consequences of the collapse of Somalia and the spread of weapons, which he said had fallen into the hands of people who were not capable of taking responsibility for using them.
He noted that this is increasing security threats and recurring conflicts in the country.
Ahmed Madoobe called on the Somali cultural, intellectual and social elites to play a prominent role in resolving conflicts, saying that Somali culture is the way to resolve conflicts and grievances within society.
On the other hand, the President of Jubaland expressed concern about the political situation in Puntland, warning against what he described as interference and chaos being fomented by the outdated federal government.
He urged the cultural, intellectual and social elites of Puntland to maintain their unity and resolve their internal issues peacefully.
Madoobe said that Puntland had played a key role in the reconstruction of the Somali state and the implementation of the federal system, noting that the administration was established through consultations between cultural, intellectual and political elites. He called for the preservation of that system and stability in Puntland’s regions.
The Jubaland President also criticized the federal government, accusing it of failing to support the fight against armed groups and prioritizing political disputes.
He argued that the ongoing events in Puntland resemble an attempt to undermine the federal system and the institutions established in the Somali reconciliation efforts.
