The results of the local council elections in the Banadir region were announced by the Supreme Court, following those announced by the National Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The Supreme Court of Somalia has officially approved the results of the local council elections in the districts of Banadir Region, after the National Election Commission had previously issued provisional results.

The decision, which was reached at the Court’s session on 8 March 2026, was signed by all the judges of the Supreme Court, led by Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Ali.

The Banadir Regional elections were contested by 20 political parties, with 390 seats contested, and over 918,000 voters were registered, while nearly 233,000 votes were cast.

The political parties that participated in the elections received their seats, the Justice and Unity Party, the Somali Presidential Party, which received 177 seats, the Tawfiq Party led by Sheikh Shakir received 49 seats, while the other parties received seats, Ramaas received 42 seats, Karaama received 39 seats, and the Sincad Party received 26 seats.

The court also stated that no formal complaint was filed against the election results within the legal period, which allowed the approval decision to be made promptly as stipulated in Article 73 of the National Electoral Law.
