The Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals and the state petroleum ministries of the country have concluded a three-day conference, which reached a unified consensus to strengthen cooperation and joint management of petroleum and mineral resources.
Somalia’s Minister of Petroleum, Dahir Shire, said that the conference clearly affirmed the priority of national unity, constitutional cooperation and joint decision-making, so that the country’s natural resources are managed efficiently, responsibly, and based on the common interest of the Somali people.
“We have once again agreed to reject division and take coordinated measures to ensure that petroleum and mineral resources are developed jointly,” said Minister Dahir Shire.
During the meeting, special focus was placed on strengthening cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Petroleum and state ministries, with an agreement on the implementation of laws, regulations and national policies on petroleum and minerals, while protecting the country’s constitution.
Also, strengthening data protection and security of activities related to natural resources and increasing the skills of workers and improving their technical knowledge, as stated by Minister Daahir Shire in his press conference.

They agreed that all activities should be based on the public interest and national responsibility. The officials who participated in the conference described the outcomes of the conference as an important step towards building trust, unifying efforts, and ensuring that the country’s resources benefit all Somali people equally.
