Government forces and local Mawiisleyda have launched a major operation in the areas under the Mahaas district of Hiran region to drive Al-Shabaab out of the district.
The coalition forces, which were taken over from the district of Mahaas on the 27th of last month, have now begun plans to retake the strategic district of Mahaas.
This operation is coming, as in recent days the areas under the Mahaas district have been heavily overrun by Mawiisleyda forces from other areas and districts of Hiran region.
An officer from the Mawiisleyda Hiran force told local media that they are preparing to re-liberate areas in Hiran region that are under the control of Al-Shabaab.
However, these military activities that have resumed in parts of Hiran region are coming, as last July, Al-Shabaab militias took over the districts of Moqokori and Mahaas, two districts that were important in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
