The specially trained Danab forces of the Somali National Army carried out a planned operation in the Durduro area under the Buurhakaba district of the Bay region in Southwest Somalia.
In this operation, a senior leader of the Al-Shabaab group, who was named Ahmed Mohamed, but known within the group as Mascuud, was killed, according to the National Media.
Danab forces also killed the leader’s personal bodyguards in the operation, with military officials saying that his body was displayed so that the local population could see the results of the security operations.
According to security officials, Ahmed Mascuud was responsible for making and planting roadside bombs for Al-Shabaab, which often target government forces and civilians.
This operation is part of the ongoing war between the Federal Government of Somalia and Danab forces against the Al-Shabaab group, to ensure peace and stability in the country.
