At least two Garowe Local Government tax collectors were killed and three others seriously injured in Garowe city after a Puntland security force officer opened fire on a Brobax vehicle they were travelling in.
The incident occurred after the officer was reportedly angry with a Bajaj motorcycle that the local government forces had seized for unpaid taxes. The officer’s gunfire reportedly killed the driver and one officer.
The suspect, who was confirmed to be a member of the Godir brigade of the Puntland Dervish militia, fled the scene of the incident. Puntland security forces are currently conducting operations to find him.
According to medical sources, some of the injured officers are seriously injured and are currently being treated in hospitals in Garowe city.
However, most of the anti-security crimes that occur in Garowe city involve soldiers, directly or indirectly.
