Opposition MPs united in the National Salvation Council today expressed their strong concern over the overall political situation in the country in a press release.
The opposition MPs’ press release specifically highlighted the political uncertainty surrounding the separation between the federal government and the regional states of the country, especially the Jubbaland and Puntland administrations.
The MPs noted in their statement that the meetings between the President and the opposition that have been going on for two months have not yielded any results, indicating a dangerous situation that could plunge the country into political chaos and social disillusionment.
“The meetings between the President and the Opposition, especially the last one held yesterday, on July 20, ended in vain and with little hope,” said the MPs’ press release.
The press release also stated that the members of the Salvation Army are deeply concerned about the weapons they say are entering the country illegally, calling for the country’s future and the hope of the Somali people to be saved.
