Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud today spoke extensively about issues related to the Hajj and the fees charged by airlines that the Ministry of Religious and Islamic Affairs has mandated to charge Somali pilgrims for their pilgrimage, and he instructed the Minister of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, to reduce the fees that Somali pilgrims pay for their pilgrimage.
President Hassan Sheikh also revealed that the ministry needs to significantly improve the services that Somali pilgrims receive when they go to Saudi Arabia, and he noted that Somalis should not feel burdened by Hajj services.
“The fee that the pilgrim pays for his pilgrimage must be reduced, the fee that is currently charged to Somali citizens must be reduced, the second point is to improve the services that our pilgrims receive, it must be improved and improved, Minister, we ask you to reduce the fees and provide quality services to the pilgrims,” said President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that Somali pilgrims used to be accommodated in Muzdalifa but this year they will be accommodated in Mina, and he noted that the Ministry has spent money to find a good place for Somali pilgrims to stay.
President Hassan called on the Ministry to encourage the public to perform Hajj and to accompany those who perform it every year, and he said that the Somali government will increase the number of pilgrims leaving Somalia since they are still a small number that has been allocated.
