The President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, announced that Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to support the security and stability of Somalia.
President Siisi said that Egypt is actively participating in the new operation of the African Union in Somalia.
The President of Egypt made this statement during discussions focused on Egypt’s role in regional peace and efforts against terrorism in Cairo with the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
President Sisi underlined that Egypt is ready to provide Somalia with technical expertise and capacity building support to solve the security challenges in Somalia.
This issue is part of the bilateral cooperation and the important role that Egypt plays in the peacekeeping of the African Union.
Last year, Egypt announced that it was ready to send troops to the stabilization and support mission of the African Union after a request from the government of Somalia.
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty noted that his country attaches great importance to assistance related to peace and stability in the region, which is part of Egypt’s efforts to support peace and development in the Horn of Africa.
