The Kenyan government has brought to court a man who is said to be the most important leader of the Daesh group in East Africa.

A court in the city of Nairobi, Kenya, accused the man named Mohamed Abdi Ali alias Abu Fidaa (Abu Shuhadaa) of planning to establish the Daesh organization in Kenya and the East African region in 2016.

This man was arrested in 2016, and since then he has been on probation.

The Office of the Public Prosecutor in Kenya, in a report released on Friday, said that the suspect was found guilty of recruiting members to the Daesh Organization.

Kenyan prosecutors have requested that the man be sentenced to up to 90 years in prison, due to the seriousness of the alleged crimes and the impact they may have on Kenya’s security.

His sentencing is scheduled for April 22, 2024.
