The government of Djibouti has once again opposed the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia, saying that the independence of Somalia is inviolable.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, Mohamud Ali Yusuf, who gave a brief interview to MMTV, said that it is necessary to restore the relationship between Somalia and Ethiopia.
“That the good relationship between Somalia and Ethiopia should be restored is the goal of President Ismail Omar, so our region has many problems, and we do not need new problems,” said Minister Yusuf.
The minister emphasized that they have a position to respect the independence of Somalia, saying that the Djibouti government does not believe that Somalia should be divided.
He said that the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia has not yet materialized, and the governments of Djibouti and Kenya are working to bring Somalia and Ethiopia together.
He said that Djibouti is currently in charge of the leadership of the IGAD regional organization, and it is responsible for maintaining peace in the region and keeping the member states of the organization together.
