The governor of Banadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madale, has issued strict orders regarding the observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
Governor Madale has specifically warned restaurants and hotels in Mogadishu, instructing them not to open eating places during the month of Ramadan.
“The month of Ramadan is different from other months. It is a month of worship that needs to be protected. Hotels and restaurants in the capital city of Mogadishu are not allowed to open in this month of Ramadan, and no one can be seen smoking or eating jad. or a hotel that is open for eating, if it is found, the license will be confiscated,” said Governor Madale.
The mayor of Mogadishu also warned the soldiers of the government forces to be among the Somali people seen on the streets of Mogadishu.
“Previously, it happened that a police officer who was part of the army who was working to protect the sanctity of Ramadan was seen smoking. After that he was arrested and the police force was removed. So the soldiers should be vigilant and not go without fasting,” he said. said the governor of Banadir Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madale.
This order from the Governor of Banadir Yusuf Madale comes as today is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan and the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs announced last night that the month has been observed in some parts of the country.
