About 37 people have died from cholera in Somalia since January, which shows the impact of the disease, according to the Ministry of Health of Somalia.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services has reported an increase in cholera cases, with a total of 3,365 reported cases.
“As of January 2024, several districts in Somalia have been heavily affected by cholera, the most reported district is Beledweyne, which accounts for 604 cases (18 percent of the total),” the ministry said. its latest epidemiological report.
The ministry said that the outbreak of cholera in Somalia is due to the increasing number of people who do not have clean water and good hygiene.
In addition, the country experienced floods caused by El Nino, which affected more than 2.5 million people, causing 1.2 million people to be displaced from their homes.
