Accordingly, the Commander of the Somaliland Navy and Coast Guard, Admiral Ahmed Xari Xariye, said that Somaliland is committed to participating in ensuring the security of Bab al-Mandab, working with regional and international partners to strengthen the security of the waterway.
The commander said that Somaliland is committed to implementing international maritime rules and strengthening cooperation to protect the freedom of movement of merchant ships, noting that Bab al-Mandab is one of the most important waterways for global trade.
The report added that these statements come at a time of increasing security tensions in the Red Sea, especially attacks targeting merchant ships, which have led to international efforts to strengthen the security of the waterway.
