The Iranian government has strongly warned against the new plan announced by US President Donald Trump, called the “Freedom Project”, which seeks to remove blocked ships from the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
A senior Iranian parliament member, Ebrahim Azizi, said that any US intervention in the Strait would be a direct violation of the current ceasefire. He added that Iran would closely monitor any military activity there.
US President Donald Trump said the operation would begin in the coming hours, with the aim of safely guiding commercial ships blocked in the vital Strait of Hormuz, a passage through which many oil tankers pass.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said it was still assessing Washington’s response to a 14-point proposal presented by Iran to end the ongoing conflict. Trump has previously called the proposal “unacceptable.”
Tensions in the region remain high, with Israel continuing its bombing campaign in Lebanon, while also expanding its control of Gaza, declaring what it calls the “Yellow Line.”
