Jubbaland Vice President, Mohamud Sayid Adan, has accused the Federal Government of sending and killing Somali troops who have no conflict with each other. He said that what is happening in the Gedo region is “a problem that cannot be hidden from the eyes.”

He made the remarks this morning, following heavy fighting in the Baladxawo district of the Gedo region, which took place between the Federal Government and Jubbaland forces, causing deaths and injuries.

Mohamud Sayid Adan accused the Federal Government of trying to forcefully occupy a region of Jubbaland, saying that the security forces that were meant to fight the enemy were used to invade and attack the people of Baladxawo.

“We want to show the world the injustice that is happening in Gedo, and those responsible for it are held accountable. We are determined to stop the fire and end the conflict, but the Federal Government has brought in troops here and wants to rule by force,” said Mohamud Sayid Adan.

He said that Jubbaland will file a complaint against the Federal Government to the international community, describing what is being done in Gedo region as atrocities. He also noted that both the dead and injured soldiers receive salaries from the Federal Government, which he described as unfortunate.

The Vice President of Jubbaland has accused the new Director of NISA, Mahad Salad, of being appointed to specifically harm Jubbaland and the people of that region.
