The Commander of the Somali Correctional Service, Maj. Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden, has revealed that they have reliable information indicating that the Al-Shabaab group intends to attack the Central Prison in Mogadishu.

The Commander said that the forces are fully prepared for any attack on the facility, stressing that if Al-Shabaab attempts an attack, there will be no escape from the hands of the forces.

“We are receiving constant information indicating the areas they intend to enter to take out their detainees. We are fully alert to their plot, and we will not allow their attack to succeed,” the Commander said.

The Commander also issued a warning to people roaming around the Central Prison, saying that the Correctional Service is closely monitoring any unusual movements, and is required to be vigilant of anyone passing through those areas.

Maj. Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden also issued a warning to the military, warning that the excessive use of mobile phones could lead to a lack of security, which could enable the enemy to cause harm.

“The military must show unity and correct their morale. It is important that they do not seek intelligence, but focus on their own safety and ensuring security,” he said.

Finally, the Commander encouraged the troops to report directly any problems or errors they see, so that they can be corrected and the defense of important facilities can be strengthened.
