“Human Rights Watch has gathered evidence that Israeli officials are committing the war crime of forced displacement,” the report said.
The report added, “Israel’s actions appear to meet the definition of ethnic cleansing” in areas where Palestinians will not be able to return.
According to the agency’s researcher Nadia Hardman, the findings of the report are based on interviews with 39 Palestinians who were displaced in Gaza, and analyzed the Israeli evacuation system, including 184 evacuation orders. evacuees and satellite images confirming widespread devastation, confirmed images and videos of attacks on designated areas for displaced people, which have been described as safe areas.
While Israel said the displacement was aimed at securing civilians or for urgent military reasons, Mrs Hardman said: “Israel cannot simply rely on always justifying the presence of armed groups to justify displacement. civilians.”
She added, “Israel must make it clear in every situation that displacement of civilians is the only option” in order to fully comply with international humanitarian law.
Human Rights Watch said that contrary to the claims of Israeli officials, their actions are not in accordance with the laws of war, and explained that the Israeli forces deliberately destroyed civilian homes and infrastructure.
