Forces from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) announced the dismantling of Al-Shabaab networks that had been organized to covertly embed themselves within parts of the capital, Mogadishu, and its outskirts.
In a released statement, NISA reported the capture of 11 operatives from various networks who were planning to carry out acts threatening security.
The statement revealed that these networks were neutralized following planned operations conducted by NISA forces in the districts of Daarusalaam, Garasbaaley, Kaxda, Dayniile, and Afgooye.
During the operations, forces also seized weapons and other materials that the operatives intended to use to carry out their planned attacks.
NISA stated that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to thwart plots aimed at undermining security and harming the Somali people; the agency urged citizens to share information regarding any security threats or details concerning Al-Shabaab and ISIS.
