The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission (INEBC) has released the official schedule for the Hirshabelle State Local Council and House of Representatives elections, with polling day officially set for August 20, 2026.
According to the schedule, the election process will begin on August 5 with the registration and distribution of voter declarations, followed by the marking and announcement of polling stations, the submission of preliminary voter lists, the submission of political party representatives to polling stations, the verification and verification of candidate lists, and finally the announcement of the final list of political party candidates.
This schedule is part of the Electoral Commission’s plan to implement the one-person, one-vote electoral system in the country’s state governments.
The commission called on political parties, candidates and all relevant parties to adhere to the schedule and procedures set out to ensure transparent and credible elections.
As can be seen from today’s schedule issued by the committee, they will fully implement this process once they are satisfied with the ongoing elections in the Galmudug State.
