A high-level delegation from the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia attended the 8th Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Parliaments Conference, which was held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
The Somali delegation was led by Senator Abdulhakeen Maallin Ahmed Maallin, who delivered a speech at the conference presenting Somalia’s vision for strengthening Arab cooperation in digital transformation, protecting national data, cybersecurity, and establishing modern laws that are in line with technological developments.
The conference also adopted several resolutions, including a resolution on Somalia, which strongly condemned what participants described as Israeli interference and violations in Arab countries, particularly Somalia, Lebanon, and Syria.
The resolution stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of countries, their territorial integrity, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
The decisions and recommendations from the conference will be forwarded to the heads of Arab states and governments for discussion at the next Arab League summit.
