The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, and the Presidential Candidate of the Justice and Solidarity (JSP) political party in the South West State, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), has strongly responded to recent statements made by the former President of the South West State, Abdiaziz Laftagareen, which related to the security situation and the government’s role in the fight against the Al-Shabaab group.
Speaking at a meeting in the city tonight, Sheikh Aden Madoobe said that the accusations made against the government and security forces are not based on the facts, noting that the main responsibility is to protect the people and maintain stability in the country.
He described it as regrettable that Laftagareen offered condolences because a government official died in a fight with Al-Shabaab and how fighters loyal to him claim that they carried out the fight themselves.
“The government has a duty to ensure the security of the people. It is wrong to mislead or encourage the youth with statements that can create discontent in the society,” said the Speaker of the Parliament.
Madoobe also said that the fight against Al-Shabaab is still ongoing, and that no one can be blamed for the current security situation.
He called on Somali politicians to show more responsibility and avoid statements that he described as divisive.
The chairman noted that the multi-party system and the political process in the country require cooperation and mutual respect, calling on political parties to prioritize national interests over political differences.
“Politics is not a place for division, but a process to unite the people and work for the development of the country,” he said.
