The Somali Cabinet held its weekly meeting today, which approved the construction of the “Halmeel” Unified Service Center, which will be under the Prime Minister’s Office.

This new center was established to coordinate various government services and unify the delivery process of public services, so that citizens can receive simple, connected, and efficient services.

It will also play a key role in reducing the barriers of multiple offices and facilitating the exchange of information between government agencies, according to a statement from today’s Cabinet meeting.

The meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, also approved an international agreement under the United Nations, which concerns the conservation and sustainable use of marine living resources in areas beyond the jurisdiction of states (BBNJ Agreement).

During the meeting, the Cabinet was presented with various reports related to the country’s security situation, economy, and river water levels. The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has presented a comprehensive study on the condition of rivers and their impact on agricultural production.

Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, for his part, praised the Somali armed forces, noting that the security report showed significant progress in ensuring security in the country, and that there has been a significant decrease in insecurity.

This meeting comes at a time when the government is making efforts to improve public services and strengthen overall security in the country.
