Uganda’s army chief, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has said his country is ready to join the Middle East war if it continues, making it clear that he supports Israel.

In a series of tweets on his Twitter account, Kainerugaba said the world is tired of the conflict in the Middle East and that Israel has a right to exist. He stressed that attacks on Israel are unacceptable.

The commander made it clear that if talk of destroying Israel continues, Uganda will officially join the war, saying: “We are with Israel.”

In another tweet, which has since been deleted, he said that the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) would launch military operations in support of Israel if the war does not end soon. He also noted that he has provided military assistance to the United States and Israel.

Kainerugaba has controversially claimed that Ugandan forces have the capacity to capture Tehran within 72 hours without using any airstrikes, although he did not specify how this would be possible.

Meanwhile, ties between Uganda and Israel are growing stronger, with Kainerugaba recently announcing plans to erect a monument to Yonatan Netanyahu at Entebbe airport, where he died during a rescue mission in 1976.

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, Kainerugaba’s father, has long had close ties to Israel, and the new steps are seen as further strengthening military and political cooperation between the two countries, although the government has yet to officially announce a decision on military involvement.
