The Turkish Navy’s warship TCG Göksu (F-497) has docked in the Port of Mogadishu, as part of the Turkish Naval Task Group in Somalia.
The ship arrived in Mogadishu on Saturday, 5 September, and docked at the Port of Mogadishu.
The Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu said today that it visited TCG Göksu, which the embassy described as part of the Turkish Naval Task Group in Somalia, and held a meeting with Turkish naval personnel on board.
TCG Göksu has previously been part of Turkish vessels protecting maritime operations in Somalia. In July 2026, the Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed that TCG Göksu, TCG Gelibolu and TCG Bartın were protecting the oil exploration vessel Çağrı Bey and the support vessels Korkut, Altan and Sancar.
The operation is related to the Curad-1 oil exploration in Somalia, which is underway off the coast of Somalia.
TCG Göksu’s return to Mogadishu comes at a time when defense, maritime security and energy ties between Somalia and Turkey are strengthening. Turkey also recently extended the duration of its military mission in Somalia for another two years, allowing it to continue providing military support and training to Somali forces.
