More news is emerging about the fighting and airstrikes against Al-Shabaab that have taken place in the past few hours in areas of the Middle Shabelle region.
The operations were said to have taken place in particular in the area of Masaajid Ali Gaduud and another area under the Raage Eele district, and heavy losses were inflicted on the Al-Shabaab group.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abuukar Mohamed, said that the operations killed more than 40 members of Al-Shabaab, and burned a vehicle belonging to Abdi Bile, who was driving the group.
“Air and ground operations carried out by the troops in Masaajid Ali Gaduud and another area under the Raage Eele district in the Middle Shabelle region killed 41 Khawarij members, after which airstrikes were targeted at the enemy,” said the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Abuukar Mohamed.
He also said that Spokesperson Abukar Mohamed is making good progress in accelerating the fight against Al-Shabaab, and that the Prime Minister has now joined the early stages of the fight to liberate the country from the group.
In recent days, fighting and heavy shelling have been ongoing in the Middle Shabelle region, targeting Al-Shabaab strongholds in the region.
