Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has described the call for a national consultation conference proposed by President Hassan Sheikh as a necessary step that could be part of finding a solution to the political circumstances and security threats surrounding the country.
“As we have repeatedly stated, the fateful issues affecting the fate of the country and the system of governance are a collective responsibility that requires consultation and consensus, we insist that this conference bring together the relevant parties at the federal and state levels,” he said in a statement issued to Farmaajo.
Farmaajo announced that we encourage President Hassan Sheikh to translate the call into action and implement the platform he has set, in order to create a political environment based on trust, cooperation and protection of the constitution he was elected to.
He stressed the importance of eliminating any unilateral action that undermines the unity of the country and the agreed-upon system of governance.
Finally, he said in his statement that he proposes that this conference be an opportunity to stand by and provide full support to the Armed Forces by assessing the circumstances they faced during their operations against Al-Shabaab.
