The Federal Government of Somalia is deeply concerned about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, urging the international community to take immediate and effective action to reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people.
In an official statement issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, during a high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council, he particularly praised the important role played by Qatar, Egypt, and The United States mediates a cease-fire.
Somali authorities have said that the conflict in Gaza has caused a terrible loss in the lives of thousands of innocent people, while major infrastructure such as hospitals and schools have been severely damaged.
Somalia called on the world to show unity, stressing the need for a lasting solution to the Palestinian situation, in order to prevent the ongoing crisis affecting the people of Gaza.
