Some of the opposition in Jubbaland threatened to hold a one-sided election, after opposing the Jubbaland election committee.

The opposition rejected Jubaland’s president Ahmed Madobe’s announcement to close the Independent Border and Electoral Commission (IBEC) which consists of 7 members.

They questioned the confidence that this committee can manage the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled to take place in late 2024.

Ahmed Madobe said that he consulted with the vice presidents of Jubaland about the number of cups of this committee which consists of 7 symbols.

Abdullahi Ali, who is a candidate for the presidency of Jubbaland, who has returned as a refugee from Kenya, said that the president does not have the power to present the officials of the election committee.

“The selection process for this election committee is entirely one-sided, without considering a consultation process, and transparency. The 50th have the right to submit to the election committee for equal representation. balanced,” said Abdullahi Ali.

He said that Madobe’s behavior has destroyed the trust that was placed in him.

However, Jubbaland passed this appointed committee, which yesterday elected a leadership committee.
