The leaders of the two Houses of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia held a joint meeting today chaired by the Chairman.

The Second Deputy of the People’s Assembly Mrs. Saadiya Yasin Haji Samatar, and today’s agenda was the approval of the rules of the elections, organizations and parties of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the law on the establishment of the election committee, boundaries and also the work plan of the committee.

The Minister of the Interior, Federal and Reconciliation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Member of Parliament Ali Yusuf Ali Hoosh, presented to the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia the JFS Elections Bill, the JFS Associations and Political Parties Bill and the Constitution of the Elections and Borders Committee which are important. which is the system of direct elections, with people and votes that the Government of President Hassan Sheikh wants to implement in Somalia.

First of all, Minister Ali Xhosh addressed the two Houses of Parliament by explaining the principles and significance of the Bill saying “In accordance with Article 47 of the Constitution, the 3 Bills are based on the following principles:

• Guaranteeing the political rights of citizens as mentioned in Article 21 of the Constitution,

• Guaranteeing that all citizens who meet the requirements of the law have the right to vote equally;

• Securing the electoral process, which can be easily understood in its rules, forms and procedures, and is implemented by the Independent Commission for National Elections and Boundaries;

• Ensuring that the community of the Federal Republic of Somalia receives fair representation;

• Encouraging a multi-party political system, while taking into account the security and socio-economic situation of the Republic.

Finally, the Minister of the Ministry of Interior XFS MP Ali Hoosh asked the MPs of both Houses to do their duty and approve important laws for the country.

After that, the members of the two houses of the Somali Parliament went to vote on these rules and 170 people voted for them, and no one respected or rejected them as she announced at the end of the voting in the hands of the second deputy speaker of the People’s Assembly Mrs. Sadiyo Yasin Haji.
