The Ministry of Defense of the Somali government has confirmed that the operation to liberate the areas of Galmudug will be participated for the first time by the Somali Air Force using warplanes.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Ali Aanood, said that the Somali forces are shelling Al-Shabaab centers in the areas where the operations are going on.
“We have a strong air and ground force. The planes of the Somali Air Force, driven by young Somalis, are conducting reconnaissance and bombing. There is the army with many vehicles,” said the spokesman of the Ministry of Defence.
Gen. Aanoud said that the Somali government is committed to freeing al-Shabaab from the country, and not leaving them in small hiding places.
The spokesman said that the government has granted amnesty to anyone who defected from al-Shabaab. He said two days ago that Al Shabaab youths surrendered to the government forces in Galcad.
However, the Somali government is running the strongest, as the country’s armed forces and terrorists are trying to control the entire region of Galgaduud, where Al-Shabaab is currently in a few places.
