The al-Shabaab group said that they have taken over the ATMIS military base in Bulomareer district in the Lower Shabelle region.
A statement from the Al-Shabaab organization said that the Al-Shabaab group attacked Bulomareer from several directions and they were unable to take control of the ATMIS military base.
Al-Shabaab’s statement said that at least 137 soldiers were killed in the attack, after the attacks began with suicide bombings at the ATMIS base.
On the other hand, ATMIS military command released a brief statement about this attack, confirming that their base in Bulomareer district was attacked.
“This morning the ATMIS forces in Bulo-Mareer attacked Al-Shabaab. ATMIS forces are currently assessing the security situation. I will share a detailed report with you soon.” said the news from ATMIS.
It was a year ago when al-Shabaab confused one of ATMIS army bases.
On May 3, 2022, Al-Shabaab launched a serious attack on the Burundi army base in El Baraf area in the Middle Shabelle region.
