The Somaliland administration said that the government of Somalia and Djibouti alone are against the agreement signed with Ethiopia.
The Chairman of the Kulmiye Party and Minister of Interior, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, said that the governments of the IGAD Regional Organization are not against the agreement except Somalia and Djibouti.
“The agreement between us and Ethiopia, the world is against the country of Somalia, it is also against the country of Djibouti, the President of Djibouti, a country that is against the idea, let 7 countries say IGAD alone, there is no single one who says that the agreement is forbidden” he said. He said that at the China-Africa Summit, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia said that the agreement is ongoing, although the Chinese government is not happy with the agreement, he said that we should talk about it.
Somaliland has recently said that the agreement has been completed and will soon be signed, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland, D.R. Isse Kayd Mohamud recently told foreign diplomats in Somaliland.
After the understanding between Somaliland and Ethiopia, it was opposed by the Somali government, which considers it a violation, as well as regional governments and the European Union, the United States and the Arab League.
