The Ministry of Security of the Northeastern Somalia Regional State has issued a warning to all airline companies operating within the administration’s territories, cautioning them against transporting weapons or troops without official authorization from the Ministry.

This warning was conveyed in an official letter issued on October 4, 2026, by the Director General of the Ministry of Security of Northeastern Somalia, Maxamuud Xuseen Jibriil (Caateeye), instructing airline companies to comply with the administration’s security directives.

The Ministry stated that any airline operating in Northeastern Somalia is required to ensure that no weapons or troops are transported on its aircraft unless official authorization has been obtained from the Ministry of Security.

Furthermore, the administration informed airline companies that any individual or entity wishing to transport authorized weapons must obtain permission from the Ministry of Security at least three days prior to travel and must present the official authorization document issued by the Ministry. The letter emphasizes that all airline companies must comply with this directive, a measure aimed at controlling the transport of weapons and troops on flights operating within the administration’s territory.

This warning comes as the administration in northeastern Somalia strives to strengthen security measures and monitor the movement of weapons and troops within its jurisdiction.
