Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Britain, and the United States held a meeting to discuss supporting Somalia’s security and stability, while also addressing the preservation of the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The meeting took place in New York, coinciding with the high-level sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, and was attended by officials at the deputy ministerial level from the five nations.
Saudi Arabia was represented by Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Rasi, the Foreign Ministry’s Representative for International Affairs, alongside Saqr Al-Qurashi, Director General of the African Countries Department; Somalia was represented by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Balcad.
The officials discussed the political and security situation in Somalia, as well as the economic and humanitarian challenges facing the country.
Emphasis was also placed on the importance of supporting the Somali government in addressing these security, economic, and humanitarian challenges, while reinforcing efforts to safeguard Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. This meeting is one of several diplomatic engagements taking place in New York as world leaders and officials attend the United Nations General Assembly.
