The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia has bid farewell to two students representing the country, who will participate in the International Quran Competition taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The farewell ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Ministry, Abdinaafac Ahmed Abdullahi, who urged the competitors to represent Somalia with honor and demonstrate the morals and values of the Holy Quran.
The two competitors representing Somalia are: Mohamed Nur Mohamed Ibrahim, who is competing in memorizing 30 juz of the Holy Quran, and Muna Abdirahman Mohamed Sabriye, who is competing in memorizing 15 juz.
The two students qualified for the competition after taking first place in the national Quran competition held by the Ministry of Endowments during the month of Ramadan.
Ministry officials said that participation in this competition reflects Somalia’s efforts to promote Quranic learning, develop teachers, and encourage young people to excel in memorization and Tajweed.
In recent years, Somali competitors have achieved notable successes and contributions in regional and international Quranic competitions, raising the country’s profile in the field of Quranic learning.
