Somalia and Burkina Faso Discuss Combating Terrorism, a Threat to Both Countries.

The Minister of Internal Security of Somalia, General Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail “Fartaag”, met in Ouagadougou with the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, as the Somali government strives to expand international security cooperation.

The meeting took place during Minister Fartaag’s official visit to Burkina Faso, where the President of Burkina Faso delivered an official message to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

According to an official press release, the two sides focused on building a unified security partnership, discussing strengthening the fight against terrorism, military training, and accelerating the exchange of intelligence between the two countries’ security agencies.

The Minister of Internal Security of Somalia said that Somalia and Burkina Faso share common security challenges, especially the threat of extremist groups and proxy wars, which he described as essential for close cooperation and ongoing collaboration.

This meeting is part of the Somali federal government’s strategy to strengthen international security relations, especially with countries in the Sahel region of Africa, which are also facing attacks and threats from armed groups.
