The Somali Armed Forces Court has sentenced police officer Jamaal Xasan Cabdulle to death by firing squad. He was found guilty of killing the former commander of the Police Communications and Technology Department, Brigadier General Salaad Maxamed Guuleed, who was murdered inside his own home on June 2, 2026.

The court also sentenced Mustaf Xuseen Guure—known as “Kaamil”—to one year of security surveillance, following accusations that he was involved in the general’s killing.

Colonel Xasan Cali Nuur Shuute, the presiding judge of the First Instance Court of the Armed Forces, stated that the verdict was delivered on October 22, following a process that allowed both sides in the case sufficient time to present their arguments.

According to case details, Jamaal Xasan Cabdulle—who served as the deceased’s personal bodyguard—was someone the general had mentored and helped join the Somali Police Force. Following his training, he was assigned to the Police Communications Department, where the general served as commander.

The prosecution revealed that the conflict between the two men stemmed from a government-issued AK-47 rifle, which was registered to the deceased but kept by Jamaal as part of his duties as a bodyguard. The first defendant is accused of selling the firearm and using the proceeds to gamble on the 1Xbet platform.

The court stated that on the night of June 1st, Jamaal arrived at the General’s residence and opened fire on Brigadier General Salad Mohamed Guled, striking him three times with AK-47 rounds in the back and arm.

The defendant is also accused of attempting to conceal evidence of the killing by using a towel and an undershirt belonging to the deceased, and by disposing of the spent bullet casings. These actions formed part of the evidence presented in the case, with a CCTV camera installed at the residence capturing some of the activity that took place outside the house.

The second defendant, Mustaf Hussein Guure—known as “Kaamil”—is accused of assisting Jamaal in the act. He allegedly remained inside the residence for approximately 12 minutes following the killing without providing any aid to the victim. Furthermore, he is accused of ensuring that no one was present outside the house and providing misleading information to the officers who arrived at the scene.

Kaamil, who had been a friend of the deceased since 2019, was also accused of using fraudulent military credentials and ranks. The relationship between him and the general was reportedly based on professional acquaintance and work-related matters, and they eventually came to live in the same residence.
