The East African Intelligence Officials Conference officially opened in Mogadishu.

The Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, opened the East African Heads of Intelligence Conference, which will be held from 29 to 30 April 2026, with the participation of security officials from countries in the region.

The conference will focus on assessing the security situation in East African countries and the region as a whole, as well as discussing current challenges and ways to strengthen cooperation and intelligence sharing among member countries.

In his opening speech, the Commander of the Army spoke about the progress in the security sector in Somalia, highlighting the importance of increasing intelligence cooperation to prevent common threats.

He also noted the progress made in the reform and upgrading of the Somali National Army.

In conclusion, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud thanked the delegations participating in the conference, hoping that the conference would yield positive results that would contribute to peace and stability in the region.
