The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of Somalia has issued an order temporarily suspending the appointment and dismissal of officials at the district and regional levels in the South West State of Somalia.
The Ministry of Interior attributed the move to the political and security situation in the areas, informing the recently dismissed officials to continue their work until new replacement councils are elected.
The federal government said that the leaders of the South West State have exceeded their term, saying that they need a solution in accordance with the law and the system of governance.
The ministry’s decision was said to be based on provisions of the country’s constitution, and that it is important to maintain the system of government and cooperation between various institutions.
The Ministry of Interior said that it would work with traditional elders and the leadership of the South West to find a lasting solution to the situation, and ensure that all future decisions are in accordance with the law and the system of governance.
This decision by the Somali Ministry of Interior comes after the South West administration dissolved the Bakool district administration, after siding with politicians who support the Federal Government and opposed the South West.
