The Puntland Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports has announced that it has suspended the operations of Daallo Airlines from all airports in Puntland.
A statement from the ministry said that Daallo Airlines was suspended from its flight permit after it allegedly twice endangered the lives of Puntland officials and citizens.
The ministry did not elaborate on the events that led to the decision, but said that the move was to protect the safety and security of passengers.
The decision comes after more than 30 members of both houses of the Somali Federal Parliament, from Puntland, were returned to Mogadishu today. The members were on a plane bound for Garowe, but were ordered to return to the capital.
The members were on their way to attend a consultative meeting invited by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, which was related to the political situation in the country, and was scheduled to take place the next day.
Daallo Airlines management has not yet commented on Puntland’s decision.
