Future Opposition Leaders Speak About Their Meeting with President Hassan Sheikh.

Some of the leaders of the Somali Future Council have provided brief details of their meeting today at the National Palace with the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The officials who spoke said that the meeting focused on important issues for the future of the country, especially the electoral system, strengthening political dialogue and preserving national unity. They pointed out that the meeting was open and directly discussed the current issues.

The country’s former President, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, confirmed his participation in the meeting, noting the importance of continuing negotiations to reach a political consensus.

The country’s former Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khaire, said that the meeting discussed the general situation in the country, elections, strengthening the unity and solidarity of the nation, drought relief and the fight against terrorist groups.

Similarly, the former Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble, also noted that the discussions are expected to focus on the future of the country and how to reach a lasting political agreement that benefits the entire Somali people.

For his part, former Prime Minister Abdi Farax Shirdon Saacid indicated that he hopes that the talks will be truly fruitful, so that the country can be freed from the uncertainty surrounding the elections.

The meeting that opened today at Villa Somalia has concluded without further details being available on the points discussed by both parties, although reports indicate that the leaders have again agreed to continue the points on the table tomorrow, the main one being the country’s 2026 electoral system.
