Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that Egypt is working to achieve stability and security in the Horn of Africa by strengthening the Red Sea waterway.
President Al-Sisi explained this by considering that this waterway is important for regional and international security.
He added that Egypt intends to participate in the new African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and is making strong efforts to obtain the necessary funding for the mission.
During his meeting with African ministers and heads of delegations, along with representatives of the African Union Commission and regional economic communities participating in the second ministerial conference of the Forum on Russia-Africa Cooperation, hosted by Egypt, Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, President al-Sisi said: “Despite the efforts of our countries, Africa’s development still faces many challenges, including weak infrastructure, insufficient investment, and numerous risks.”
President al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with brotherly African countries such as Somalia to combat terrorism through a comprehensive approach that strengthens security, development, and social aspects, including the role of Al-Azhar and the programs of the International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding, and Peacebuilding in Cairo.
