The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has arrived in Doha, participating in the Doha Forum, which will discuss international security issues, global political changes, and development cooperation.
The Somali Presidency said in a press release that the President’s participation in the forum demonstrates the strong diplomatic relations between Mogadishu and Doha, and the two sides’ commitment to further strengthening their cooperation.
President Hassan Sheikh will hold meetings with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and other senior officials.
The discussions will focus, according to the presidency, on the situation in the Horn of Africa, security challenges, and the future of cooperation between Somalia and Qatar.
The Somali Government said that the participation in the Doha Forum is an opportunity to enhance its diplomatic role on the international stage.
The Somali President is said to want to use this forum to promote Somalia’s interests in regional stability and sustainable development, so that Somalia can play a prominent role in international discussions on peace and security.
