Puntland Police in Mudug Region said that a woman named Hodan Mohamud Diiriye, 34, has confessed to the murder of Sabiriin Saylaan Cabdille, 14.
The suspect was recently arrested after the girl’s body was found, and the police said that she will be brought to court.
The deceased lived and worked in the house of the accused who committed the crime, and an investigation into the accused’s mobile phone found evidence that she regularly abused the deceased, as well as kept her as a slave.
Also, an investigation into the deceased’s body found several injuries, including that she was killed by a knife, and that she was stabbed in many places on her body.
Many people who were angry about the girl’s murder held a rally demanding justice for the deceased. Police urged people to remain calm, saying the law would be applied to the accused.
