The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia has provided further details about a planned operation carried out in the Aden Yabaal district by the National Security and Intelligence forces in cooperation with international partners.
The operation was said to have specifically targeted a house in the Aden Yabaal district, which was a strategic center for the group to collect military equipment and organize its militias.
The operation was confirmed to have killed 12 members of Al-Shabaab, including leaders of the group whose movements were specifically monitored, and their names will be announced later, according to the press release.
“During the operation, combat vehicles, large amounts of weapons and other equipment that were important to the enemy were also destroyed, and this operation went as planned,” the press release from the Ministry of Information of Somalia said.
The Federal Government of Somalia also stated that it is committed to eliminating the Al-Shabaab group, in cooperation with the Somali people and international partners.
